Bronchoscopy & Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS)
Bronchoscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that allows our physicians to directly visualize the airways using a thin, flexible scope. It is used to evaluate persistent cough, hemoptysis, suspicious imaging findings, and abnormal lung tissue. Biopsies, brushings, and washings can be obtained for diagnostic testing during the procedure.
Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) takes bronchoscopy a step further by incorporating real-time ultrasound imaging, enabling precise sampling of lymph nodes and lesions adjacent to the airways. EBUS-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a gold standard for the staging of lung cancer and the diagnosis of mediastinal lymphadenopathy.
Both procedures are performed under sedation in a hospital setting with continuous monitoring. Most patients recover quickly and return home the same day. Results are reviewed promptly with you and integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan.
